1995 classic Amiga game - football management games
One of the first managers to simulate only the Polish league, clearly inspired by Bundesliga Manager Pro - data of players is limited to just few, we can sign advertisement contracts and animations to present the situation from the match. At first glance, the game is very simple - there are 4 leagues simulated (first, two seconds and third), the game contains real names of players from the 1995/96 season, we can play in any of the leagues available with all the basic options in such games. The team selection is limited to starting eleven plus reserve players, choosing a formation and using three bars to indicate on which formations the players should concentrate. Transfers are easily made (purchases via a transfer list and sales through the message screen), we can sign contracts with sponsors, determine the conditions in which our players will travel on away matches. Until that point everything looks pretty good. Problems start with the first match - just like in Bundesliga Manager Pro we see only the key situations (which is not a big problem), but after just few rounds it is clear that the match engine is very simple and it is hard to see the link between team selection and the match result . A simple example - the animation shows a player dribbling past several opponents and shooting a beautiful goal. Everything would be fine if it wouldn’t be our central defender. Generally defenders are among the top scorers in the Liga Polska Manager, which is somewhat surprising. Another example: animation ends with ball reaching the top corner of the goal, but the description reads "situation wasted by...". In general, not the worst game of the genre, but the tiny flaws in the details with time become big problems.
