Small Devil Inside concept is quite simple and similar to our other games - contrary to other games of the genre we prefer to keep the user wondering exactly how good his car is and he actually won't know that for sure before the race. No, not through misleading him, it's just there isn't an universal scale on which you could compare your car to other teams.
The goal is simple - just like in life you can improve things and be happy about it, but you can't be sure if others are not doing the same thing, but a bit better. Also any progress in Small Devil Inside will have its drawbacks - you can for example improve top speed of your car, but at the cost of worse cornering or by increasing fuel consumption. In reality very rarely you can improve car without decreasing its parameters in some other area.

New game engine version covers the change of tires temperature, its impact on lap time, the driver style and his concentration and fitness. Drivers gained quite few additional parameters that will influence the race, like their knowledge of the car, their reflexes, intuition / feeling of the car and experience. All of it was needed to calculate the risks they are taking during the race and how well they could handle the dangerous situations. New engine also covers the basics of duels between drivers and the accidents that can lead to retirement from race. So overall we made some pretty decent progress this week.
Well, light is a bit much, but then there was some progress anyway. After few months of struggling with converting the single lap for a single car engine into multi-lap race engine for many cars, we finally found the solution, which will put Small Devil Inside project few steps forward. The biggest problem with engine was the processor workload that would make the race hard to be processed in single go, with f.e. over 10 million procedures needed to cover race of 30 cars over 30 laps. With some clever shortcuts that will not decrease level or realism we managed to cut this down to around 100,000 procedures, which will be enough to process the race within seconds. Right now the engine 0.033 covers such factors as driver fatigue, driver concentration, tires condition, amount of fuel and pitstop times, now we are working on pressure put on driver from events on the track.
